About Us
The Minara Chamber of Commerce is a formally constituted organization formed in May 2000 , through an initiative by the Muslim community to create unity between businesses after consultation with a broad spectrum of the business community, and has since grown tremendously and now serves as a platform to represent and assist South African businesses, entrepreneurs and professionals.
Over the 19 years Minara has been providing support to its members to establish new business networks and opportunities by exposing its members to local and international trade delegations and government officials.
The Chamber’s activities and objectives are based on the need to provide a formal voice and guiding vision for Business. The constitution and workings are based on an adherence to an Islamic Code of Conduct and Ethics as contained in the Holy Quran.
The name Minara was chosen for the Chamber as it aptly reflects the vision and the objectives of the organization. A “Minara” is a tall tower built on a solid base from where announcements are made. It can be seen from far and is a beacon. The Chamber is built on this definition, with solid structures towering from education, ethical conduct, knowledge and experience of the community which has been built on a solid base of Islamic principles and code of conduct, thus making information, opportunities and linkages thus becoming a beacon towards which the community gathers and together all benefit.
Membership is open to business owners, professionals, entrepreneurs, organizations and students and there is no discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, creed, language or cultural caste. Membership extends across South Africa and in time will grow into the rest of Africa.
The Chamber has received official recognition from the South African government and trade organizations and has established formal relationships with other Chambers of Commerce.
We provide services and skills to benefit our members allowing them to soar above others. We will use our collective resources to uplift economic standing of the community and become a beacon of guiding light to our fellow citizens.
Membership extends across South Africa and in time will grow into the rest of Africa.
