BUSINESS CHAMBER ANNOUNCES THE BUSINESS AWARDS FINALISTS 2018

TOP 18 High achievers in running for Winning title as winner of the year in 6 categories

DURBAN: EIGHTEEN South African high achieving individuals, independent companies and community figures have been shortlisted for the coveted annual awards hosted by the Minara Chamber of Commerce in Durban this year.  

Solly Suleman , President of the Business Chamber, said the adjudication panel were most impressed with the calibre of nominations received from across South Africa this making it no easy task in minimising  the list to three finalists,  He further added 18 candidates would be contesting for the prestige prize in each of the six categories.

In the Business Entity of the Year category, three highly successful independent companies include Limco Group, Capital Group and Alif Door Manufacturers.

The Business Person of the Year finalists 2018 are Ahmed Mahomed current CEO of Datacentrix, Shabir Tayob Director of BMW Supertech and Rishaad Mahomed Director of Tabloid Media Group.

In the Businesswoman of the Year section, Dimpho Aishah Majogo of Nyota Collections, Zulaka Khan Bobat of Verulam Dialysis Centre and Zeenat Ghoor of Aspire Consulting Engineers from have made it to the shortlist.

Attorney Mohamed Junaid Husain, Director of Knowles, Husain, Lindsay Inc., Environmentalist Dr Najma Mahomed and Professor Ahmed Adam are the three contenders in the Professional of the Year Category 2018.

The Young Entrepreneur finalists are Mohammed Taahir Shah owning several businesses, Muhammed Simjee of A2D24 and Zainab Paruk of Chilli Chocolate Chefs.

Narrowing a list of just 3 Community Builders is a difficult choice for any panel due to the phenomenal work by many South Africans, qualifying as this year finalist In the Community Builder category Moulana Nazir Munshie of Al Fidaa Foundation Port Elizabeth, Shaykh Saleem Banda, Director of World Muslim Youth Movement and Dr Ghamiet Aysen of the Greater Edendale Muslim Society.

The winners will be announced at the upcoming Awards evening where some of South Africa's leading personalities will be at the podium.

This year Lifetime Achiever will be awarded to Dr AV Mahomed a well-respected community leader who has been recognised for his efforts and contribution both locally and internationally.
